We are the Light

The stars and moon have fallen from the sky
The broken and the starving live in fear
And people try to live only to die
So many cry in pain, but few will hear

The storms of human souls shatter the sun
The earth quakes under men who charge to fight
And you might be convinced the world is done
But dawn comes, the horizon to ignite

The world is uncaring, some testify
But empathy is still buried inside
Action and work might be in short supply
But so many wet eyes can still be dried

You say that our future cannot be bright,

But, how you are wrong, as we are the light

Daydreams

Love always finds a way into daydreams
He could be there at every sudden turn
A smile from a stranger makes you beam
You just have to wait, no need for concern

But soon you’ve been waiting for a while
Watching as others find love and lose it
And you keep drifting with a breaking smile
Filled with a pain you feel you can’t admit

Still pressing on, your courage untying
But your limbs refuse to sink, and you swim
The years keep passing and hopes keep dying
You now think that you might never find him

When you have lived your whole life being passed
To live one daydream isn’t much to ask

The Stuff of Life

These days I’ve been feeling stuck on repeat
I feel the colors of my world slipping
The pencil is hard to push ‘cross the sheet
Quickly, shorter my focus is chipping

Is this all that life is supposed to be?
Monotone beats with no sound to pursue?
No, life must be more than dull misery
Life is much more than just making through

Life is the fear before stepping on stage
And noticing the way that others shine
Life enjoying every day that you age
And the sting of the cold on winter nights

Life is the moments when you know you’re whole

Life is feeling every part of your soul
